Choosing a career is quite interesting but pursuing it is very difficult. Sometimes the external forces behind keeps telling you to quit and shove it away but only few people made it to pushing far.
Sandymusings in an interview with young Miss PHILIP GODIYA JOY popularly known as Godiya dishes, explained in detail, her love for this choice of career and below are her responses which she hopes she can inspire the young people who ought to get busy and stop procrastinating.
In an interview with Sandymusings:
What are your full names?
Philip Joy Godiya.
What choice of career are you
When did you start pursuing this career and why this career?
I started pursing this career in 2018.
I was a 300 level student in the University of Lagos. As one of the challenges of a student there would be a period with low funds. Thanks to my roommates then who encouraged me to go into making of fried meat as a business in the hostel and make money for myself. I started with a total of 1500 and the business continued to grow.
At this point I expanded and started making Asun for occasions including convocation and birthday activities.
I opened an Instagram account shortly after and I started promoting business. I started receiving orders for surprise breakfast and dinners.
Just after my convocation Chef Punshak of Maggi invited me and I became a chef at Maggi. His passion for culinary opened my mind farther and I decided to go for culinary trainings so I could become a certified chef.
I started my culinary training at Ehis Center for culinary Arts (ECCA) as a professional chef student.
Chef Ehis is currently a mentor to me and he gave me a privilege of working with him and also getting trained
From your explanation, it shows that you are currently training under the tutelage of chef Ehis. What do you enjoy so much under his teachings and what challenges have you faced during this process?

It is true am currently in training under the tutelage of Chef Ehis.
One thing I enjoy so much is the fact that he never gives up. He keeps saying “anytime you see me give then give up too” this keeps pushing me to know more. Read more and practice more. Trust me I’m a Better Chef than I was before my training started. I now can play around spices and herbs.
Challenges faced during this training was the fact that I was working and training and there are times classes was going on and I needed to do some official assignment making me miss out some minutes or hours of the lecture room.
Will you say there’s actually a hope for the young ones hoping to take this route for a career?
If there be any, what advice will you have for this young one’s
There’s hope for anyone who wants to be Chef irrespective of the age and educational background
There are only 3 tips I would give;
1. Passion: there must be an undying passion to become a chef. Ready to face the bad sides, go into the inner markets and even get unpleasant comments about your career path. Passion would keep you strong and get you there.
2. Focus: if you are not focused then there’s a limit to how far you can go. Being a chef is more tasking and requires a lot of patience and indebt thought.
3. Consistency: keep practicing, keep being good, keep working hard, never give up and the sky is just your starting point
